SUBMISSIONS—COMICS & GRAPHIC NOVELS

Archaia Studios Press (ASP) is interested in publishing creator-owned comic books in the fantasy, horror, pulp noir, and science fiction genres that contain idiosyncratic and atypical writing and art. ASP does not hire freelancers or arrange for freelance work, so submissions should only be for book and series proposals. ASP is primarily interested in full-color projects, but proposals for black & white projects will also be considered.

In your proposal, please include the following:

* A cover letter with your contact information (an ideal minimum: name, address, phone number, and email or website info) and basic introduction to you and your work. A resume is not necessary.

* A short synopsis of the overall story. This can be included as part of the cover letter, and should include descriptions of the major characters, plot developments, and themes of the story, as well as technical details such as intended series length, projected page counts, etc.

* Photocopy samples of completed pages from the book or first issue of a series. Ideally, this should be the entire first issue or project completed, but works-in-progress are acceptable. Submissions on CD are also acceptable, but hardcopies are preferred.

* If you like, a self-addressed stamped envelope may be included if you wish your samples returned. I know samples and copies cost money to make, so if you'd like them back include a SASE, otherwise they will remain in ASP's files.

* URL links to your art or submission will not be accepted. Hard copies only. Please send your proposal to:

Archaia Studios Press
Attn: Comics Submissions Dept.
586 Devon Street, 3rd floor
Kearny, NJ 07032-2804

ASP will endeavor to give you a response to your submission as soon as possible, but please be aware it may take considerable time for that to happen. Email follow-up inquiries are fine, but please avoid calling to find out the status of your submission.

Thanks for your interest!

SUBMISSIONS—ARTESIA ROLEPLAYING GAME

ASP is currently accepting submissions from writers interested in developing supplements for the Artesia: Adventures in the Known World (AAKW) roleplaying game.

Submission Format
ASP accepts both electronic and physical submissions.

Our submission address is:

Archaia Studios Press
Attn: Submissions Dept.
586 Devon Street, 3rd floor
Kearny, NJ 07032-2804

Mail to: games@archaiasp.com

What are we interested in?
We want to see proposals that offer rich and exciting opportunities for players to explore the AAKW setting. Proposals must be set in the lands of the Known World. We specifically urge scenarios taking place in the Middle Kingdoms, but we’ll take look at proposals for settings elsewhere in the Known World. Just bear in mind our core book focuses on the Middle Kingdoms, so proposals set there will initially take precedence over something, say for example, in the far flung Kessite kingdoms or uncharted Lokhite territories. As we expand our line, we’ll be more open to proposals taking place outside the Middle Kingdoms.

Knowledge of the Fuzion™–based role playing system as presented in the AAKW guidebook is a must.

What do you need to send us?

• Send a brief cover letter that tells us anything about you that you think we might need to know. Specifically, this letter should mention if you've been published before and, if so, a list of your body of work. If you are sending electronically, include this information in the body of your e-mail.

SEND A SYNOPSIS OF YOUR PROPOSAL FIRST! This should be no longer than three pages in length. Use standard Times New Roman font, 12 pt. type, and double-spaced. If we like what you’ve presented, then our games editor will contact you and ask for a fully developed outline for further consideration.

• Physical Mail: Be sure to include your name and return address somewhere on the outside of the envelope. We prefer disposable proposals, but if you want your proposal returned, please indicate this clearly in your cover letter, and make sure your submission contains a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) with sufficient postage on the return envelope.

• E-mail: Make certain the e-mail address you use to send from is the same one you want us to reply to; in the event your address changes after your submission, drop us a note and let us know. Electronic submissions may be sent as plain text pasted into the body of an e-mail message, or as a .doc (Word) or .rtf (Rich Text File) file format. Use standard Times New Roman text, 12 pt., double-spaced. We do not accept the .wpd (WordPerfect document) file format or PDF files. Links to an HTML page online is also happily accepted, but please follow our formatting request and keep the page simple, black text on a white background, in an easily readable text font.

• As AAKW is a mature-audience setting, you must be at least 18 to submit work to ASP.

What happens next?
If your proposal seems like a good fit for AAKW, we will contact you. We generally take 6 to 12 weeks to reply. Please bear in mind, we cannot offer individual critiques of your proposals. Please do not call or e-mail us to ask for opinions or to check the status of your submission.
